Now, you would say, times have changed a lot, right? I mean, the West went through an industrialisation, the world has modernised, people have become more educated, refined, more aware and sensibilised, right?
Well, not all of us, I’m afraid. I want to draw your attention to the Italian Horse Protection, an organisation that has a lot of personal meaning to me.
A few months ago, they started to take action against a Medieval practice in Italy, called Palio. I even dare to say, they have made it a personal vendetta. They address local authorities, spread information through every available channel and opened a petition on their website.
I have signed it already, and I’m asking you to sign it and spread it around. It is only a few clicks away, it’ll take you away from Facebook, World of Warcraft, your emails at work, or whatever, for just a few seconds. I’m positive you can miss those tiny seconds to put your attention on this cause. Why? Because on the night of August 2nd, in Gavio (Sardinia), 2 donkeys and a horse were seriously injured by individuals with AXES and the 2 donkeys had to be put down as a result. Because nobody wants to see a horse get spiked on a fence, get slammed into a wall or break its legs in a useless folkloristic street race, all for winning some prize money. And most of all, who wants to see a pretty face like this (that’s Domingo in the picture by the way) be brutalised?
Just sign the petition, as a minimum effort. Spread it, if you want to do more!

And most of all, remember, until one has loved an animal, part of one’s soul remains unawakened (Anatole France).
